Privacy Policy

1. Scope of this policy

This Privacy Policy describes how SecureShift, Inc. ("SecureShift," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the SecureShift website, applications, and services (the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy. This policy is incorporated into, and subject to, our Terms of Service — including their disclaimers, limitation of liability, and arbitration provisions.

This policy does not apply to the practices of clients, security companies, guards, or other users, or to third-party services we do not control (including Stripe). Those parties are independent of SecureShift and are responsible for their own privacy practices.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide: account and profile details (name, email, phone, role, city, company name), service requests and booking details (including service locations, dates, and instructions), messages sent through the Platform, provider verification materials (licenses, compliance documents, insurance information), and support communications.

Information collected automatically: log and device data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, timestamps), approximate location inferred from usage, and operational events generated by the Platform such as check-in and check-out records, shift status, and audit-log entries.

Information from third parties: payment status and identifiers from Stripe, and verification or screening results from third-party data sources where applicable.

3. How we use information

We use information to operate the marketplace — matching requests with providers, coordinating dispatch and fulfillment, processing payments and payouts, and generating shift and service reports; to verify provider compliance and approval status; to detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms; to provide support and communicate with you about your account and bookings; to comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements; and to maintain, analyze, and improve the Platform.

We may use aggregated or de-identified information, which cannot reasonably be used to identify you, for any lawful purpose.

4. How we share information

To operate the marketplace: we share the information necessary to complete a booking — for example, a client's service location and instructions with the assigned provider and guards, and a guard's name and status with the client. Private provider verification documents are not exposed to clients.

Service providers: we share information with vendors who perform services for us (payment processing, hosting, analytics, communications, verification), under obligations to protect it.

Legal and safety: we may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or legal process, or is appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of SecureShift, our users, or the public, including to law enforcement in connection with incidents or suspected fraud.

Business transfers: information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to reasonable confidentiality protections.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

5. Payment data

Card details are collected and processed by Stripe and are never stored on SecureShift servers. Stripe's handling of your data is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy and terms, and SecureShift is not responsible for Stripe's acts or omissions. We retain payment records (amounts, status, and identifiers) needed to operate bookings, payouts, refunds, and disputes.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to operate the Platform — such as authentication and session management — and may use analytics tools to understand usage and improve the Platform. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling necessary cookies may prevent the Platform from functioning.

7. Data retention

We retain information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform, and thereafter as necessary to comply with legal, tax, accounting, audit, and dispute-resolution obligations, enforce our agreements, and maintain records required for marketplace integrity (including append-only audit logs and payment and incident records). Retention periods vary by record type and legal requirement.

8. Data security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information — including role-based access controls, row-level security, and append-only audit logging for sensitive actions. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DO NOT WARRANT OR GUARANTEE THE SECURITY OF ANY INFORMATION, AND YOU PROVIDE INFORMATION AT YOUR OWN RISK. Any liability of SecureShift arising out of or relating to a security incident, unauthorized access, or loss of data is subject to the disclaimers and limitation of liability in our Terms of Service.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws — such as the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and the right to appeal a decision on such a request. You may access and update your profile information from your account settings at any time, and may submit other requests to privacy@secureshift.com. We will verify your identity before acting on a request and will honor valid requests to the extent required by applicable law, subject to records we must retain for legal, tax, safety, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution purposes. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

10. Children

The Platform is not directed to, and may not be used by, anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact privacy@secureshift.com and we will delete it as required by law.

11. Third-party links and services

The Platform may link to or interoperate with third-party websites and services. SecureShift does not control and is not responsible for their content, policies, or practices, and provides such links without any endorsement or warranty. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

12. Users outside the United States

The Platform is operated from the United States and is intended for users located in the United States. If you access the Platform from elsewhere, you do so on your own initiative, you are responsible for compliance with local laws, and you consent to the transfer, storage, and processing of your information in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.

13. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

This policy is a description of our practices and does not create any contractual or other legal right in or on behalf of any party beyond those required by applicable law. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SECURESHIFT DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE ACTS OR OMISSIONS OF OTHER USERS OR THIRD PARTIES WITH RESPECT TO YOUR INFORMATION, AND ANY LIABILITY OF SECURESHIFT RELATING TO THIS POLICY OR YOUR INFORMATION IS SUBJECT TO THE DISCLAIMERS, RELEASE, LIMITATION OF LIABILITY, AND ARBITRATION PROVISIONS OF OUR TERMS OF SERVICE.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy to the fullest extent permitted by law.
